Graduation 2015

  by    0   1

After an intensive six months, our second intake of students had their graduation ceremony last Friday, April 17th. Congratulations to them all!

The ceremony took place at The Langham, London. Guests included friends and relatives of the Graduates as well as key business travel industry figures who have supported The Academy including Paul Wait of the GTMC and representatives from our graduation sponsors Sabre, Evolvi, Advantage and the Langham London.

The graduates all began the new course in September and have now received their qualification of Diploma in Business Travel, which is endorsed by the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH). They are only the second intake of students to have ever received this qualification, following last years inaugural graduates.

Guest speaker at the Graduation Ceremony and long-term supporter of The Academy since it’s inception, Paul Wait, Chief Executive of the The Guild of Travel Management Companies  (GTMC), said:

“The Academy is a wonderful initiative and has my full support. I am really excited about the way in which we are trying to attract people into the industry. The Academy delivers the knowledge, the skills and also the inspiration to have a long and happy career in the business travel industry.”

David Giles, Chairman of The Giles Group, says:

“The idea of creating The Academy came from the need to inject fresh, new talent into the business travel industry. Despite the number of ‘Travel & Tourism’ courses available in higher education, business travel is barely even recognised, either as a study sector or career opportunity. The need to have properly trained business travel professionals coming into the industry is vital and recognised industry wide.”

Supporter of the academy, The Rt Hon Cheryl Gillan MP (who previously endorsed the course with a video testimonial) had this to say of the Academy:

“I think you can be sure, if you’re an employer taking on a graduate of the Giles Business Travel Academy, that you’re getting the best in their class.”

We are now processing admissions for the next Diploma course starting in September 2015 and still have spaces available.
